Please give us a short summary of your website?
Website for CNC machinists in the UK. We have forums, gallerys, build logs and so on.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
My own hobby intrest in cnc.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I have many sites, my first was in 1997 at the age of 15 i started designing sites for local companys and my own as an online profile.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Researching what was already out there, what i could regiter in the way of a domain name, this would prove a key to the sites success. Somthing that was snapy and easy to remeber but kept the main subject with-in.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I have many years of running this kind of site, many of the sites for cnc in the uk have little memeber counts and seem to have had no investment in the site or its develpmont. I have put in hours of research on what will work and what will not, this has included contacting over 200 UK individual machinists inviting them to join the site and so on. The site isnt 8 weeks old yet and we have Total posts 286, Total topics 68, Total members 53.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
The idea behind the site was to bring all the UK machineits doted about other sites in small numbers to one focal point, giving them all the resources they find on others sites but refind and in one place. We plan to sell ad space to UK companys to simply cover costs, this will be done with taste and donating members will have the option to remove ads from there display settings.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Very well todate we have new members joing everyday and a very big amount of new posts and topics and so on.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would setup an online store giving offering all the items related to cnc for a very good price. The site is still new and so far we meet the demand for content and resources.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes i would, i have multiple resources in place and ready for such a day.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None!
What has been your biggest challenge?
Nothing really and i would say everything has been quite even and levle, this is due to over 10 years as a webamster.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Direct contact with uk macshinests.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
My expectations have always been quite high, so far the site has met my expectations and continues to do so.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site is approx 5-8 weeks old, i would have to review the situation more but if the site had become some what of a lost corse. The idea would be that the site is populer, dose have big traffic stats and would produce some form of income.
