CNC Lathes; Collets

By Tecnicrafts at 07/30/08 05:23
Collets are movable metal parts in a chuck which grip the tool or the work piece. Collets are manufactured from high grade steel for better hardness and best performance. They are available in different variety of sizes and shapes for Headstocks and attachments. There are some standard sizes for collets according to the requirements.

Collets are basically produced in inches and metric in sizes based on the requirement. The standard program for manufacturing collets includes bore sizes starting from Ø 0.50mm. For the better operation, collets are provided with smooth bore which may be Ø9mm and above for hefty gripping while machining. This prevents big amount of damages to the parts.
