Choosing the right drafting table at Office1000 - Part 2 of drafting series

By Office1000 at 11/12/07 11:41

In an earlier post we went over some of the drafting products we carry at Office1000.com. In this post, we will discuss some of the different types of drafting tables available on our website. In the next post, we will do an informative bit about drafting stools.

On our website, we offer several types of drafting tables. Please be aware when choosing and ordering your table that the bases and tops are in most cases sold separately and must be purchased together for a complete table. The bases and tops that go together are grouped together:

There are less expensive drafting table models that have fold-up designs. This design offers you the opportunity to have a quality drafting surface that can be easily stored when not in use. This type of table is perfect for students who don't have much room or anyone else with a similar circumstance. These fold up tables do adjust in height at the base, and the top tilts up to 50 degrees just like the more expensive tables. An example of this type of table would be the Safco Horizon Folding Drafting Table. There are other tubular steel base tables that are affordable as well such as Safco's Vista Drawing Table.

The next group of drafting tables would be a mid priced item such as Iceberg's Work Manager Layout Table. This table has a 28" x 48" scratch-resistant vinyl laminate top that has 17 tilt positions from 0 to 40 degrees. This table is ordered in one pice and has no height adjustment on the base.

The third type of table I will present is the higher end Planmaster Height-Adjustable Drafting Table made by Safco Products. This table is also a two piece, which is available with either a 48" or 60" drafting board which tilts to 50 degrees. The base is a black, sturdy heavy duty steel which does adjust in height from 30" to 37". It has a convenient spring mechanism that makes tilting your table a snap.

The final table in this post is the top of the line Precision Drafting Table made by Safco. This table is a deluxe model with a stable, 4 post deisgn steel base with stabilizing bars. The sturdy 1" drafting boards have a non-glare green laminate finish. The boards are available in either a 60" or 72" width with this base. The board angle can be easily adjusted up to 50 degrees with no tools. This table is for the serious drafter and even comes complete with a handy 12-1/2" x 29-3/4" tool drawer with lock.

For more information on these fine drawing boards and bases, you can view them directly on our website. Remember, on the next post, I will cover information on drafting stools to go with these drafting tables.
